The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has organised a sensitisation workshop for staff at its Kaduna State Office.
The workshop which forms part of ACTU’s routine exercise across state offices aimed to promote a corruption-free work environment and ensure strict adherence to laid-down rules and ethical standards in public service.
In his remarks, the Co-Chairman of ACTU, Abdulrahman Danladi Adamu, highlighted the unit’s core mandate, saying it includes preventing corruption, promoting transparency, and sensitising staff on integrity in the workplace.
He explained that corruption in public institutions often manifests through practices such as bribery, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds, favouritism, and deliberate violation of due process.
According to him, these actions undermine public trust, weaken institutions, and hinder national development.
Earlier in his speech, the N-HYPPADEC Kaduna State Coordinator, Abdulhalim Yazid, stressed the importance of the sensitisation exercise, noting that it aligns with the Managing Director’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption and other related offences. He urged staff to always uphold accountability, transparency, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Lectures were also delivered on combating corruption in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the whistle-blowing policy, as well as the code of conduct and workplace ethics.
