NATIONAL HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER PRODUCING AREAS DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (N-HYPPADEC) is a federal commission established to drive socio-economic, environmental, and infrastructural development in communities affected by hydroelectric power dams. Its mandate includes planning, policy formulation, and implementation of programmes that mitigate ecological impact and improve living standards.
To enhance security in host communities, the Commission has:
Renovated and expanded a mobile police base in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, including electrification and motorised borehole installation.

Procured and distributed 2,500 motorcycles to security agencies and vigilante groups to aid routine patrols.

Although the Commission does not operate major hospitals, it has:
Facilitated health outreach program and minor surgical clinics in member states like Kogi, Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Gombe and Taraba (e.g., three-day medical outreaches).

2021 Commission begins operations and needs assessments across host areas.
2024 Community mapping of over 6,000 communities to guide interventions.
2025 Housing resettlement & flood mitigation projects begin; expanded life-saving equipment distributions.
2025–Aug N-HYPPADEC inspects and pushes to revive the Bida Mana Water Works Water, Yelwa-Yauri Water works for potable water delivery.
