DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS TO VICTIMS OF FLOOD
As a natural disaster, flooding cannot be completed eradicated but, institutional response to the victims of the disaster is what defines a system. N-HYPPADEC as an institution in its response to the distress communities after flooding, provided the needed urgent support to cushion the effect of the devastation by provision and distribution of relief materials. This is intended to help the victims in times of need and rekindle their hope and confidence that the government is neither deaf nor blind to their plight. The Commission provided food stuff and other household items such as rice, beans, maize, millet, garri, cooking oil, tomatoes, salt, mattresses, mosquito nets and blankets to cushion the effect of the disaster to the victims.

Yelwa’s extensive attachment to the locals and his understanding of the dynamics of flooding and its consequences, compelled the Management Committee follow-up the relief materials with a team of medical experts to conduct medical outreach to contain the spread of diseases. Under this arrangement over One Hundred and Twenty Thousand patients were attended to annually, including minor surgeries and provided cash donations to attend the victim’s immediate financial needs.
