School Support Programmes

It is a common phenomenon that When the people are well informed the environment grows to become a better place for all to live. The educational sector in Nigeria, like other sectors is greatly affected by several challenges including poor funding, societal and cultural norms that does not support formal education. This is causing a major setback to advancement. As one of its primary objectives, the Commission has taken a giant step to improve the quality of education in communities within its area of operation. N-HYPPADEC has initiated a series of school support programs aimed at improving educational outcomes in its Member States. Despite its commitment, several challenges hinder effective implementation. Key issues include inadequate infrastructure, insufficient funding, and socio-economic factors that affect student enrollment and retention.

To address these challenges, N-HYPPADEC has outlined clear policy directions focused on enhancing educational infrastructure, providing learning materials, and implementing community engagement strategies. These policies aim to create a more conducive learning environment and promote sustainable educational practices.

In the area of infrastructure, the Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa led Management Committee has constructed over One Hundred Blocks of Three Classrooms with VIP toilets. The Commission also provide books, school bags, uniforms and laptop computers as well as desks, chairs and other teaching aids to facilitate teaching and learning in member states. These underscores the Commission’s understanding of the role of conducive environment in learning process.

In the area of other services, the Commission has sponsored about 3,000 students from communities across the 6 N-HYPPADEC member states to write the NECO GCE examination, a gesture that rekindled hope in the hearts of the students and serves as relief to their parents. This is in addition to the scholarship and bursary support to qualified candidates from the affected communities.

The target outputs of N-HYPPADEC’s school support programs include; Increased enrollment and retention rates in schools, Improved academic performance measured through standardized assessments, Enhanced teacher competency and job satisfaction, Strengthened community partnerships that support educational initiatives.
