State Update 2: Kaduna State Campaign Rollout

Following the successful advocacy and flood awareness campaign in Plateau State, N-HYPPADEC has also taken the 2026 sensitisation drive to Kaduna State, continuing its systematic sweep of high-risk operational areas.

Just like in the previous outing, the delegation, which was led by Ms. Ruth Asabe Essien (Deputy Director of Finance), actively engaged host communities across the state on disaster preparedness and mitigation ahead of the rising waters.

The sensitisation exercise directly covered N-HYPPADEC host communities across four key Local Government Areas (LGAs): Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Lere, and Igabi, with specific communities, including Danbushiya, Keke A, Keke B, Dan Hono, Kadaure, Makera, Kakuri, Barnawa, and Lere, targeted.

While addressing community leaders, stakeholders, and residents, Ms. Essien emphasised the importance of flood preparedness and disaster risk reduction strategies, noting that early awareness and community-led action are the most critical tools for reducing the devastating impact of seasonal flooding.

She reiterated that the ongoing 2026 Advocacy and Flood Awareness Campaign underscores N-HYPPADEC’s commitment to building long-term environmental resilience, safeguarding lives, and protecting the livelihoods of host communities across its member states.

She urged residents to avoid building structures on natural water channels, keep drainage networks clear, and strictly heed early warning signals issued by relevant regulatory authorities.

The community leaders, in their separate remarks, commended N-HYPPADEC for its timely intervention and pledged to disseminate these vital flood safety messages directly to every household within their domains.
