The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has handed over project sites for the construction of blocks of classrooms and motorised solar-powered boreholes in Daudu Dawadawa Community, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

The projects are in fulfilment of a promise made to the community by the Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa (Katukan Yauri), during his recent visit following a boat mishap that claimed 11 lives.

During the visit in June, the Managing Director donated cash to the families of the victims, distributed 50 life jackets, and pledged to construct blocks of classrooms and solar-powered boreholes to improve access to essential social amenities in the community.

Handing over the project sites to the contractors on behalf of the Managing Director, the Benue State Coordinator of N-HYPPADEC, Mr. Lee Ahenjir, said the construction of the blocks of classrooms and solar-powered boreholes would significantly improve access to quality education and potable water for residents of the community.

Speaking separately after taking possession of the project sites, the contractors, Mr. Sebastian and Mr. Aba, assured the Commission and the host community that the projects would be executed in accordance with the approved specifications and completed within the stipulated timeframe.

In his remarks, the community Chief, Alhaji Abubakar Idris, commended N-HYPPADEC for fulfilling its promise to the area. He pledged the community's full support and cooperation to ensure the successful execution and timely completion of the projects.

The event was attended by the Area Officer for Katsina-Ala, Mr. John Mbakighir; the Area Officer for Agatu, Engr. Obiabo Emmanuel; Engr. Emmanuel Amarachi; and other officials of the Commission.
